Olympic champion Caeleb Dressel will be the highlight of the Christmas on Walnut Street event in his hometown of Green Cove Springs on December 7, 2024, from noon to 9 p.m. The city is excited to honor Dressel, a Clay High School graduate known for breaking seven national high school records and winning ten Olympic medals, including nine golds. His presence is sure to add extra sparkle to the event, especially the parade at 6 p.m.
The parade, which boasts over 70 floats adorned with lights under this year's theme "A Vintage Christmas," is organized by the Green Cove Springs Business League in partnership with the City. It will feature Dressel as "Hometown Hero" atop a beautifully, decorated float that commemorates both the holiday spirit and the local community's esteem for the athlete. According to the City of Green Cove Springs, the parade is a cherished tradition and a highlight of the Green Cove Springs Christmas Parade. It reflects the vintage charm that locals and visitors alike have come to adore and appreciate.
The Christmas on Walnut Street event is about more than just honoring Caeleb Dressel—it’s packed with fun for the whole family. Starting at noon, Spring Park will feature over 50 craft booths and food trucks. The GCS Elks Lodge #1892 will offer free photos with Santa at the pool pavilion. The city goes all out with holiday decorations, including over 250 Christmas trees, and a 45-foot City tree lighting up City Hall and Spring Park as night falls.
