
A northeast Columbus neighborhood was disrupted by gunfire yesterday morning, resulting in one death and leaving another individual in critical condition. The Columbus Police Department responded to a report of the incident at the intersection of Walford Street and Fitzroy Drive, according to NBC4i. Officers discovered two male victims, one was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center.
Detectives have identified Devon Ford, aged 26, as a suspect in the shooting and have filed a warrant for his arrest. As per the Franklin County prosecutors, Ford now faces a murder charge in connection to the incident, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch. This development follows the police's immediate efforts to apprehend the suspect yesterday.
A ‘shelter in place’ alert was briefly issued for the area as a precautionary measure but was later lifted. The CPD Homicide Unit is currently investigating the motives behind the shooting. While the second victim's condition was critical initially, there has been an update to stable status, as stated in a piece obtained by FOX28.
The authorities are urging the public to assist in locating Ford.
