An indictment has been handed down to a 70-year-old Orange County man for charges relating to the sexual assault of a child under 12. As per the State Attorney's Office, the individual, identified as Kenneth Kafader, stands accused of Sexual Battery on a Child (Victim Under 12 Years of Age) and two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation (Victim Under 12 Years of Age), the allegations were formally presented to a grand jury on Wednesday, the result of which led to his indictment.
According to the details released, the incident that catalyzed the indictment occurred on August 17, when Orlando Police were alerted to a sexual battery claim at a household where a witness reported observing Kafader reach under a child's nightgown. This witness immediately confronted Kafader, but he vacated the premises before law enforcement arrived. Officers later found Kafader at his residence and detained him after their inquiry. The State presented enough evidence on Wednesday to sway a grand jury to indict Kafader on the abovementioned charges.
While specifics of the case remain under jurisdictional confidentiality, the public can seek updates through the Orange County Clerk of Court's website.
