Orlando native Marcelo Manuel Maysonet, aged 23, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for illegal possession of machine guns. As announced by the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, the sentencing, handed down by U.S. District Judge Carlos Mendoza, also includes the forfeiture of a Delton INC, DTI-15, 5.56 caliber AR style pistol and 15 machinegun conversion devices linked to the crime.

Law enforcement officers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, in conjunction with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, discovered the illicit items during a search of Maysonet's residence. Among the weapons found were 15 conversion devices capable of turning semi-automatic firearms into fully automatic machines—a severe violation of the National Firearms Act.

Maysonet, who pled guilty on July 25, was charged under a consolidated crackdown on firearms offenses. This case is a part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a sweeping initiative that aims to synergize law enforcement efforts at various levels and engage communities in reducing violent crime and gun violence.
