An Orlando middle school employee is facing federal charges for the distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material following a formal indictment. According to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Mitchell Regan, 36, from Leesburg, could face up to 20 years in prison on each of the two counts of distribution of child sex abuse material (CSAM) and another for possession if convicted.
Regan, detained in federal custody, was an employee at a local middle school and worked with the Boys and Girls Club, teaching chess and music lessons. The search of his residence conducted by Homeland Security Investigations on October 17 led to the discovery of CSAM on his cellphone, including an image found in his photo gallery. Subsequent social media reviews by law enforcement officials revealed that Regan distributed two videos featuring CSAM on June 24.
The investigation, led by Homeland Security Investigations and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, shows a solid commitment to prosecuting these severe crimes.
