Last Friday, the Oxford Police Department apprehended 20-year-old Timothy Hervey in connection with a drive-by shooting that unfolded on Hurricane Lane in Oxford, Mississippi. The incident, which transpired on Halloween, reportedly left a vehicle outside a home punctured with bullet holes, yet resulted in no physical injuries. This information was documented in a report by Action News 5 and echoed by FOX13 Memphis.
The Oxford Police Department, in a social media post on X, confirmed Hervey's arrest, which followed investigative efforts leading to his identification as a suspect not only in the drive-by shooting but, in a burglary within Lafayette County as well. Officers responded to the scene shortly before 4 p.m. on October 31, where multiple bullet holes were discovered in a parked vehicle, and shell casings, amongst other evidence, were recovered. The rapid response by the police and the subsequent collection of evidence appear to have been critical in the swift arrest of the suspect.

Further investigation allowed detectives to link a handgun found in Hervey's residence to the crime. According to Action News 5, during a warranted search, police found a handgun "matching the gun that was reported stolen." Additionally, this handgun and the ammunition found were "consistent with the type used in the shooting on Hurricane Lane." This discovery solidified Hervey's connection to the shooting and the previous burglary.
Currently, Hervey is detained at the Lafayette County Detention Center, facing charges for the drive-by shooting, and possession of a stolen firearm. As the legal process unfolds, further details are expected to emerge regarding Hervey's involvement in the drive-by incident and his criminal record.
