A fatal incident occurred yesterday evening in Byron Township, resulting in the death of a pedestrian after a collision with a minivan. WOOD TV reports that at around 7:30 p.m., a Honda Odyssey, driven by a 39-year-old woman from Gaines Township, was traveling west on 68th Street near Creekstone Lane when it struck a 44-year-old man from Kentwood who was in the road.
Despite immediate attempts by first responders to provide life-saving measures, the man was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries, during the aftermath, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office stated they are still piecing together the events that led to this tragedy, and their Traffic Safety Unit is heading the ongoing investigation. The driver of the minivan, who remained unharmed, has not been publicly identified, and authorities have yet to determine what caused the collision, according to WWMT.
In addition to the reports about the accident, FOX 17 News confirmed that the victim was indeed a pedestrian at the time of being struck, adding further verification to the narrative of the event as understood through county officials.
