The Pennsylvania State Police are asking the public to help identify two individuals involved in the dog's abandonment at the Butler County Humane Society. According to WPXI, the incident occurred Tuesday evening when a black pickup truck towing a trailer stopped at the facility on Evans City Road in Connoquenessing Township. The suspects, captured by video evidence, removed a cage with a dog inside the trailer and left it in front of the Humane Society building.
The incident, which unfolded at about 6 p.m., left the dog engaged and exposed to near-freezing temperatures that night, the thermometer barely inching above the 30s. Butler Radio detailed that the animal was stranded until Humane Society employees found it at approximately 7 a.m. The police are now urging anyone with information about these two individuals or the vehicle in question to come forward to assist in the investigation.
Thankfully, after the discovery, the dog was promptly cared for by the Humane Society staff, and attention has now shifted to the search for the suspects. The vehicle in question is described as a smaller black pickup truck with a trailer.
Anyone with tips or information about this case is encouraged to contact the state police, who are dedicated to ensuring justice for acts of negligence and abandonment.
