A Philadelphia police officer sustained injuries early yesterday morning during a hit-and-run crash in North Philadelphia's Hunting Park neighborhood, as confirmed by local authorities. According to FOX29, the incident occurred a little after 1 a.m. on West Luzerne Street when the officer's patrol car, heading west, collided with another civilian vehicle.
The officer, who is part of the Neighborhood Services Unit, was immediately transported to Temple University Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, reported CBS Philadelphia; the driver of the other vehicle did not remain at the scene following the crash investigators are now soliciting tips from the public as they look to apprehend the individual responsible for the collision.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police are trying to ascertain details about the driver and the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, which occurred at the intersection of West Luzerne and North 7th streets, as 6ABC noted.
