Phoenix police responded to a shooting near 51st Avenue and Southern at around 1:00 a.m. Officers found 27-year-old Luis Eduardo Beltran Arteaga, who was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. The incident is under investigation, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
The suspect, 23-year-old Jose Luis Fajardo, was familiar with the victim and was quickly found and arrested near the home. Detectives pieced together that earlier Fajardo was involved in a conflict near 47th Avenue and Van Buren that led to him firing a gun multiple times, although no injuries were reported from this earlier altercation. Fajardo then proceeded to forcefully gain entrance to Arteaga's home, eventually shooting him, as indicated by a statement obtained by ABC15.
The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a shooting in which Arteaga died. Fajardo has been charged and booked into the Maricopa County Jail. Witnesses reported that Fajardo fled the scene after the shooting. The motive for the crime is still unclear. Fajardo faces multiple felony charges, including murder, as the investigation continues, according to ABC15.
