Phoenix's landscape is set for a significant transformation with the announcement of Halo Vista, a $7 billion master-planned development that's pegged to generate considerable economic activity and employment opportunities in the region. This ambitious project is poised to feature an array of facilities, including an auto mall, retail spaces, and a substantial industrial zone.

Christine Mackay, Phoenix's community and economic development director, confirmed the city's plans to begin the groundbreaking for infrastructure and the initial phase of Halo Vista as early as 2025. This development, as reported by ABC15, will progressively unfurl over the following 25 years. "We are thrilled to be working on this over the next 25 years and bringing it forward," Mackay said during a city economic development and housing subcommittee meeting.

Mack Real Estate Group and McCourt Partners announced their intentions for the site at an event held at the Global Ambassador Hotel this past October, laying out their vision for a "city within a city." This vision includes, as per the Phoenix Business Journal, around 30 million square feet of space at full build and the creation of up to 70,000 jobs. Halo Vista's plans also involve collaboration with city departments to ensure adequate water and transportation infrastructure, crucial for the site that spans 2,300 acres.

The Forge and the Sonoran Oasis Research and Technology Park are two major districts expected within Halo Vista. The Forge aims to enable advanced manufacturing facilities that might also encompass data centers and distribution uses. On the other hand, the Sonoran Oasis is slated to provide a base for research and development, focusing on burgeoning sectors like biosciences, battery, and electric vehicle technologies. "Like-minded companies that have an integrated, vertical relationship with a chip-manufacturing company makes absolute sense as to the types of companies that we would see in the Forge and Sonoran Oasis," Mackay further explained, as noted by Phoenix Business Journal.

Halo Vista is also set to house over 500,000 square feet of retail space situated along Interstate 17 and an auto mall with potential for up to 10 dealerships. The strategic positioning of these commercial spaces next to residential areas also anticipates the addition of medical offices and educational components, aiming to offer a conducive environment for both the workforce and residents. Nathan Wright, Phoenix's deputy director for economic development, highlighted the site's potential impact saying, "We really have an amazing opportunity here, it's going to be a hub of industry in the Southwest and in the entire United States," a statement obtained by Phoenix Business Journal.
