The Pierce County Canvassing Board will begin reviewing November 5 General Election ballots on Monday at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend at the Pierce County Election Center, 2501 S. 35th St., Suite C, as confirmed by a Pierce County notice.
The county will certify the election results on Tuesday at 10 a.m. The public is invited to watch as the Canvassing Board—made up of Auditor Linda Farmer, a County Council representative, and a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney—officially certifies the results, ensuring transparency and legitimacy.
The three-member board will tackle the canvassing of votes to address the contested or questionable ones, verify the unofficial results shown in the County Auditor’s Abstract of Votes, and then piece together the official County Canvass Report before certifying the election results.
For those interested in local governance, this is a great opportunity to see the election process up close. Attendees can watch the entire process and even participate during a public comment segment, which promotes transparency and public involvement in government.
