The festive allure of Kennywood's Holiday Lights has caught national attention—it's in the running for the USA Today 10Best Theme Park Holiday Event. Pittsburgh's traditional holiday celebration is up for accolades alongside heavy hitters like the holiday events of Herseypark, Busch Gardens, and both Disneyland and Disney World. As WPXI reported, Kennywood, aglow with millions of lights, is a sight to behold, with local choirs and Santa adding to the merry atmosphere.
Starting November 15 and running until January 1, this year promises more sparkle and cheer than ever, not only a Kennywood boasting over 3 million twinkling lights and Pennsylvania's ultimate Christmas tree but the debut of a new Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer experience—yes, you can meet the lovable misfit himself, plus Bumble, Clarice, and Sam the Snowman, while a fresh Holiday Reflections light show will dance across the lagoon.
In a statement detailed by CBS News Pittsburgh, Kennywood General Manager Rick Spicuzza said, "This year's Holiday Lights will showcase the largest investment the park has ever made in this beloved event in 13 years, making Kennywood the perfect place to create cherished holiday memories this year." He’s pitching the park as Pittsburgh's top spot for holiday festivities, and it seems like he may be on to something.
While the park is excited about the nomination, it’s urging the Pittsburgh community to vote by December 2. With festive holiday classics, a light show set to seasonal music, and plenty of holiday magic, it aims to make this season even more special. After finishing ninth last year, Kennywood hopes to reach the top this time around.
