A 12-year-old girl reported being sexually assaulted while waiting at a bus stop in Pasadena, an incident that local law enforcement is currently investigating. The attack occurred early Wednesday morning in the 300 block of North Lake Avenue, near the Metro Lake Avenue station, as detailed by NBC Los Angeles.
According to the KTLA report, the girl was approached by a man, described as in his 30s, who sat beside her and committed the assault. The suspect reportedly fled the scene on a bicycle after the incident, heading south from the bus bench. Lt. Monica Cuellar with the Pasadena Police Department, shared that the child was not physically injured, but was shaken by the experience.
The Pasadena Police Department, which received a call about the incident Wednesday morning, has not released additional descriptions of the assailant or disclosed the exact nature of the assault. Statements obtained by ABC7 from the police noted the suspect was last seen wearing a long-sleeved jacket and black sweatpants when he fled the location.
The 12-year-old, a resident of Pasadena, managed to board her bus following the assault and reported the ordeal to school officials as soon as she arrived. The incident was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m., prompting an immediate police investigation, KTLA noted.
