The Pompano Beach Holiday Boat Parade, the nation's longest-running event of its kind, will celebrate its 62nd year on December 13. The parade, starting at 7 p.m. from Lake Santa Barbara, will go on rain or shine. This year's theme, "A Salute to our First Responders," honors those who ensure public safety.
The parade will travel north, passing under the Hillsboro Bridge, and end at Sullivan Park, near the Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton border. Spectators can enjoy a display of boats adorned with festive lights and decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will bring up the rear, waving to the crowd from the final boat. According to an event posting on the City of Pompano Beach's website, the Grand Marshals this year are local heroes, including Pompano Beach Fire Rescue Firefighters and the newly formed Ely fire cadets.
For a prime viewing experience, the Miraggio Italian Grill, located at 3100 E. Atlantic Boulevard, will serve as the MC, judging station, and viewing stand, with ample parking and seats for over 300 patrons. Alsdorf Park on 14th Street Causeway will also offer spectator viewing bleachers, ensuring no shortage of spots from which to enjoy the event. Moreover, the entire Boat Parade will be live-streamed on the Chamber’s YouTube page and the Pompano Beach/ Margate/Lighthouse Point Chamber Facebook Page for those who can't make it in person.
For those planning to attend, take note that the NE 14th Street Causeway and Atlantic Boulevard Intracoastal Waterway Bridges will be stationary in the open position from 6:15 p.m. until the entirety of the parade makes its pass. Motorists should plan alternate routes to and from the beach during these times. More details can be found by calling 954-941-2940 or by visiting the event's official page.
