Two individuals, previously convicted of firearms offenses and currently on probation, were arrested in Rancho Cordova after leading police on a vehicle pursuit. The incident occurred during a routine patrol operation by the Rancho Cordova Police Department's Crime Suppression Unit (CSU).
According to a recent social media post from the RCPD, officers observed a traffic violation and decided to attempt to stop the vehicle. Recognizing the driver as someone on felony probation for firearm violations, the officers initiated the stop, but the driver quickly sped away instead.
The pursuit lasted several minutes before ending, at which point CSU officers apprehended both the driver and the passenger, who was also identified as being on probation. A search of the vehicle following the chase yielded two semi-automatic handguns, one of which was confirmed to be stolen.
As both individuals were convicted felons, the possession of these firearms constituted a violation of their probation conditions and led to their arrest. They have been booked into the Sacramento County Jail, potentially facing new charges on top of their previous convictions. This apprehension emphasizes the ongoing efforts by the RCPD to address repeat offenders and manage the presence of illegal firearms within the community.
