The meeting about the future of Taum Sauk Mountain State Park and Jay Nixon Backcountry has been postponed due to recent flooding. Originally scheduled on Saturday, it will now take place on December 7 at 9 a.m., according to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.
Flooded trails and bad weather have canceled guided hikes, including an overnight trip to the Jay Nixon Backcountry. Despite the changes, park officials are inviting locals to attend the rescheduled sessions to share their input on park facilities and operations, as public feedback is crucial to improving these natural spaces.
The information meetings are part of an effort to update the long-term plan for the parks. This is not just a formality—it’s a chance for people to engage, ask questions, and share ideas.
