Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies are piecing together the details of a deadly shooting that occurred early Saturday morning at a Waffle House in Riverview. According to WTSP, the incident unfolded just after 3 a.m., when two customers became embroiled in a heated argument that ended fatally.
Deputies arrived at the scene at 10041 US Highway 301 South to discover a 60-year-old man with a life-ending gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, officials have urged that despite the suspect fleeing after the shooting, the public is not in danger. In response to the tragedy, Sheriff Chad Chronister stated, “We are committed to holding those responsible for such reckless violence accountable,” as reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
At this time, details about the relationship between the suspect and the victim remain murky, and investigators have yet to determine if there was any previous connection. "Detectives are asking the public if they have any information; please call HCSO at 813-247-8000," appealed the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in their ongoing effort to apprehend the individual responsible for the shooting.
Meanwhile, FOX 13 News reports that detectives are conducting interviews with multiple witnesses and are collecting security footage from surrounding businesses to piece together the events that led to the deadly altercation.
