A road rage incident on the bustling streets of North Philadelphia led to a shootout between two cars yesterday evening, resulting in a young woman being injured. The confrontation, which occurred near Temple University's campus around 5:30 p.m., saw a 22-year-old woman grazed in the leg by gunfire, as reported by 6abc.com. The woman has been taken to Temple University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A visiting sports team's bus, parked nearby, was also struck by bullets, though thankfully, none of the team members were injured.

The two drivers involved in the skirmish were promptly apprehended by Philadelphia police, who were fortunately in heavy deployment in the area as a preventive measure against looting and violence. According to a statement obtained by 6abc.com, First Deputy Commissioner John Stanford heralded the effectiveness of the increased police presence, saying, “We’ve been in a heavy deployment for the past few days, and we have officers at this location. Our officers were able to make two apprehensions and recover two firearms that were involved in this incident."

In the chaotic aftermath, as police were responding to the shootout, two groups of juveniles began to clash, compelling the officers to intervene. Three juveniles were detained and a gun was confiscated in that subsequent fracas. A Temple University alert advised the community to avoid the vicinity while the police were attending to the incidents, as noted by FOX 29.

Despite the area being renowned for its academic institutions, the violence has instilled a palpable sense of trepidation among nearby residents. James Bombardt, a local resident who stumbled upon the scene, encapsulated the unease in the neighborhood, as reported by CBS News Philadelphia, “I'd like my girl, my woman and her daughter to stay inside. I'll walk the dogs. I'd rather me take the shot at being shot at.”
