A man who was shot on Shining Star Drive earlier this month has died from his injuries. The incident that has now turned fatal occurred in the predawn stillness last Saturday. Just before 3:00 a.m., patrol officers rushed to the scene in the 3000 Block after reports of a shooting, as reported by the Sacramento Police Department Facebook post.
After their arrival, officers found a male adult bearing the weight of at least one gunshot wound. Emergency aid was given by the officers until Sacramento Fire Department personnel joined, lending their expertise to what then was an active bid for life. The unidentified man was ferried to a nearby hospital, but on Sunday, despite the rigor of medical efforts, he was pronounced deceased, as per the Sacramento Police Department.
The Sacramento Police Department's detectives have picked up the mantle, leading an investigation that remains shrouded in the unknown—the details of that early morning gunfire are scarce, and has yet to ensnare a suspect. As the community grapples with yet another echo of violence, the police are appealing for witnesses to step forward.
In keeping with due process, the Sacramento County Coroner's Office will reveal the identity of the man whose journey ended too abruptly, once his kin are notified.
