San Antonio's infrastructure is set to improve as District 4 Councilmember Dr. Adriana Rocha Garcia announced support for the East-West Connector Major Thoroughfare Plan Realignment Project. The project will receive $250,000 from the Economic Development Incentive Fund for a feasibility study. This new roadway aims to enhance connectivity by linking IH-35 and IH-37, two key routes in South San Antonio's growing economy, according to the City of San Antonio.

"Today’s vote in support of a feasibility study marks a step forward in our continued efforts to spur more economic investments and greater opportunities for those who work and live in south San Antonio," Dr. Rocha Garcia told City of San Antonio. The project aims to explore roadway alternatives to improve mobility and connectivity by collaborating with industry partners like International, Toyota, and JCB Texas.

Initial discussions by former District 3 Councilmember Rebecca Viagran have led to progress. With full City Council support, the study aims to attract federal and state funding, improving access and opportunities in the area. Viagran stated, "Prioritizing a feasibility study for an East-West roadway in the Southern sector is critical in positioning San Antonio for continued economic growth." The City of San Antonio's inclusion of this initiative in the State Legislative Program for the 89th State Legislative Session reflects a proactive approach to securing support.
