San Antonio police are currently looking into an altercation on the West Side that resulted in a local man fatally shooting two dogs. The incident took place late Wednesday afternoon in the 9200 block of Adams Hill. According to KSAT, a 36-year-old man reported that the two dogs had been attacking his pet cat in his front yard.
The situation escalated when the man retrieved his gun in an attempt to frighten off the animals, who in turn became aggressive towards him. Fearing for his safety, he fired at and killed the dogs. The man's cat succumbed to injuries inflicted during the attack. "The man had gotten his gun to try to scare off the dogs, but they began to get aggressive toward the man," SAPD officials stated in a report obtained by KSAT.
After the incident, Animal Care Services responded, and the owner of the deceased dogs was notified. No arrests or charges have been made yet, and the case is still under investigation. It's unclear whether the dog owner will face any legal consequences.
Headtopics reports that the SAPD has not clarified the potential charges that could be brought against the dog's owner at this juncture, indicating the complexity of a case where pets become the source of violence between neighbors.
