San Antonio experienced a volatile episode of vehicular chaos as 37-year-old Audrey Marie Schneider led police on a dangerous chase that crossed county lines and ended at the Alamo Quarry Market. The pursuit began after Schneider, driving an SUV, did not comply with a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper's attempt to stop her on Interstate 35 in Comal County on Thursday afternoon, as reported by MSN. The chase extended into Bexar County, with Schneider reportedly colliding with multiple vehicles, including slamming into a trooper's patrol car.
As the chaotic scene unfolded, freelance photographer Alec Dyer captured a now-viral video of the event after exiting a Whole Foods Market. “It felt really surreal. I couldn’t even believe it,” Dyer told KSAT 12 News, highlighting how the SUV, piloted by Schneider, narrowly missed other vehicles during its desperate circling of the Quarry's parking lot. Dyer, finding himself perilously close to potential harm, continued documenting the pursuit as Schneider drove recklessly before her forced halt in front of a salon.
The spree ended when Schneider ran into Salons by JC and got into a fight with an officer who followed her inside. No serious injuries were reported. Schneider faces multiple charges, including assaulting a peace officer and driving while intoxicated with an open container. In 2017, she was also charged with obstructing a highway while intoxicated, but that charge was dismissed after she received deferred adjudication. San Antonio police confirmed she is still in custody at the Bexar County Jail.
