The San Marcos Police Department is currently investigating a series of disturbing incidents at an apartment complex on the 1700 block of Mill Street, seeking a suspect linked to peeping and sexual assault reports. According to KXAN, the events took place between October 31 and November 1, and police have released a description of a white or Hispanic male, around 6'0" tall, heavyset, with distinctive spiked or combed-over hair, last spotted clad in a grey shirt, black shorts, and white shoes.
At the nexus of these complaints is a video received by a resident on Halloween, which allegedly captured an unidentified man lingering at her bedroom window while she was partially undressed, "for several seconds before running away," as detailed in a statement obtained by FOX 7 Austin. The following morning, around 2:30 a.m. on November 1, another resident glimpsed a figure loitering outside a ground-floor window, reportedly observing a woman who sat at a desk with the blinds open but when officers arrived they heard noises and spotted a man who then fled, and despite the chase that ensued, the suspect evaded capture, dashing through the complex.
The mode of intrusion grew more severe with reports of a woman who, sleeping beside her boyfriend, awoke in the predawn hours to a stranger's unwelcome touch and a second victim, located in the same apartment, recounted a similar experience while she lay asleep on her couch, according to interviews conducted by San Marcos PD and recounted by both FOX 7 Austin and KXAN. The assailant fled when his victims stirred, leaving through the same egress, a back door that opened onto a patio.
San Marcos PD continues the search for the individual responsible for these violations, urging anyone with relevant surveillance footage to assist law enforcement in the pursuit of justice, encouraging the public to maintain a vigilant stance, and reminding to secure windows and doors.
