A fatal shooting in Santa Ana claimed the life of a man over the weekend. Authorities were called to the 2000 block of S. Wood Street just before 9 p.m. Saturday, after reports of gunfire came through, as per the Santa Ana Police Department. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. CBS News Los Angeles reports that the man was rapidly transported to a hospital by paramedics, however, he did not survive.
The deceased, identified by police as 48-year-old Trino Steven Leon of Anaheim, was found down at the scene, as per KTLA. Details are sparse, and at this time, the motive behind the shooting remains elusive, the Santa Ana Police Department has said. They have thus far refrained from releasing any suspect description or further details leading up to the incident.
Investigators are actively pursuing leads and seeking out potential witnesses to shed light on the case. According to a release, which KTLA had access to, the Santa Ana Police Department's Homicide Section detectives are calling on the public to come forward with any information that could assist in the investigation. It's also been noted that this case qualifies for the Gang Reward Program.
