A community member strolling along Piner Creek Trail in Santa Rosa made a grim discovery yesterday morning. A report of a possibly deceased person led to a prompt response by Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) and Santa Rosa Fire Department (SRFD) officials, who began to search the area swiftly. Shortly after their arrival, at around 8:59 am, the body of a deceased man was found in Piner Creek, just south of Guerneville Road, as stated on a social media post from the Santa Rosa Police.
The situation deepened when detectives from the SRPD Violent Crimes Investigations Team arrived on the scene quickly to assume control of the inquiry, highlighting the potential severity of how the man came to his end in the creek. Current details are sparse, and the deceased is described merely as a Caucasian male in his mid-60s. Efforts are ongoing to securely confirm his identity and notify his next of kin before releasing his name to the public.
