Early this morning, Santa Rosa Police apprehended a man in possession of an unregistered loaded firearm. According to the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers were conducting a routine patrol around a business area on Cleveland Ave when they encountered the individual.

The incident occurred near the 3100 block, where officers noticed a parked vehicle with Hunter J. Kirk sitting in the driver's seat. The officers observed he held marijuana and was preparing to use it. They initiated contact, which led to the discovery of a Springfield XD .45 ACP gun concealed in Kirk's waistband. "The loaded firearm was not registered to the subject," the Santa Rosa Police Department stated.

Following the search, Kirk faced multiple charges, including possession of a firearm not registered to him, carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle, and carrying a concealed, loaded firearm in public. The case, identified as SRPD Case #24-12839, resulted in Kirk's arrest and subsequent booking into jail on said charges.
