
A 22-year-old Silver Spring man, identified as Melvin Obdulio Jimenez Y. Jimenez, has died following a head-on collision with a box truck in Anne Arundel County. The crash occurred early Wednesday, and police reported that Jimenez was driving a 2004 Acura RSX on Dorsey Road near Asphalt Road, south of Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, when the accident happened around 12:20 a.m., as reported by WBALTV.
Detailed by TheBayNet, it was revealed that the victim's vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes and directly struck an eastbound 2015 FRHT box truck. After the collision, both drivers were quickly taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Unfortunately, Jimenez succumbed to his injuries while the other driver, a 42-year-old man from Pasadena, managed only to sustain minor injuries and is expected to recover fully.
The Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Section is leading the investigation to determine the cause of this tragic event. Authorities have yet to share details about why Jimenez may have drifted into the path of the oncoming truck.
