Sonoma's Folktable, the brainchild of Chef Casey Thompson, shuttered its doors after service yesterday. Thompson, a familiar face from her stints on "Top Chef" and "Food Fighters," did not provide explicit reasons for the closure, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
In a heartfelt message shared by Chef Casey Thompson on Instagram, she said, "With gratitude and a touch of sadness, we announce the closing of our doors due to things out of our control. This is not the outcome we hoped for." The chef also spotlighted her staff, encouraging the community to warmly extend opportunities to the "incredible, hard-working, talented staff" facing job searches just before the holiday season.
Folktable's absence will end an era for Thompson in Wine Country, whose culinary journey in the region has been lauded and dynamic. Beginning her career in Texas, Thompson had moved to the Bay Area, formerly helming Aveline in San Francisco, which, despite its brief life, showcased Thompson's prowess quickly enough to establish her as “a talent to watch,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
