Authorities are currently investigating a possible shooting in Petaluma that left one person dead. Yesterday at approximately 4:15 pm, deputies responded to reports on the 5100 block of Lakeville Highway. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased individual with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, according to a social media post from the Sonoma Sheriff.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that shell casings were found at the scene, suggesting a shooting had taken place. "Deputies determined the victim appeared to have been shot," stated the Sonoma Sheriff's Office in its social media update.
Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crime unit have taken the helm of the ongoing investigation. The department has refrained from releasing additional information but promised updates as new data becomes available.
