Veterans Day saw businesses nationwide dishing out specials and freebies to honor those who have served in the military, with a host of Southern California locations participating in the generosity. According to KTLA, veterans and active duty service, members enjoyed complimentary access to amusement and pride through events such as free rides at Pacific Park and free admission to the Queen Mary in Long Beach. Santa Monica Pier added patriotic fervor with an American Flag lit up on the Pacific Wheel.
Restaurants across the region rolled out the red carpet with a variety of dining deals. While Denny’s dished out free Grand Slam breakfasts, California Pizza Kitchen and Chili’s were among several spots serving free entrées to veterans and active duty service members, as reported by KTLA.
ABC7 noted that establishments like Applebee’s and Buffalo Wild Wings did not fall behind, offering free meals off the Veterans Day menu and boneless wings and fries, respectively. Enhancing morale, these offers typically required a valid military ID or proof of service, emphasizing a narrative of gratitude and recognition.
The wave of gratitude didn’t stop there. "This gesture symbolizes our admiration and respect for those who are currently serving in a branch of the U.S. military or those who once wore the uniform," Jamie Richardson, VP at White Castle, said amidst offering free meals to veterans as a sign of respect. Moreover, as per NBC Los Angeles, Firehouse Subs joined in with complimentary offerings specifically tailored for veterans and active-duty military, further solidifying the sense of communal respect for the sacrifices made by these individuals.
