The Rams settlement is entering its final phase as St. Louis's Board of Aldermen prepares to decide how to allocate the funds. Over the past year, the board sought input from residents to prioritize community needs, and it is now finalizing plans to address those priorities.
According to the City of St. Louis website, in January, six priority areas were identified based on public feedback: water and street infrastructure, Downtown street and sidewalk improvements, subsidized childcare, and a redevelopment loan fund to revitalize distressed neighborhoods. Since May, the Board of Aldermen has hosted public hearings where experts and advocates have discussed the financial and practical aspects of implementing these plans.
Last fall, preliminary hearings emphasized key challenges identified by St. Louis residents and ranked the most supported policy proposals. The latest hearings, combining public input and expert review, are essential for refining the plans. The board's decisions reflect fiscal responsibility, strategic development, and the public's voice in governance. They bear the responsibility of directing funds to improve infrastructure.
