As the campaign rallies came to a close, Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris relied on celebrity endorsements to energize voters ahead of the 2024 election. In battleground states, the Harris-Walz campaign hopes these endorsements will influence undecided voters. CBS 17 reported a packed event at The Ritz in Raleigh, where artists like James Taylor and Sugarland performed for supporters.
The goal of these star-studded events was not just to entertain, but to inspire action. Sara Venkat, a Harris campaign volunteer, told CBS 17, “We’re just very excited about her potentially being our next president," highlighting the importance of healthcare, voting rights, and free speech. Although Vice President Harris was not physically present, she appeared virtually, with her speech live-streamed from Pittsburgh and later from a Philadelphia event, as reported by ABC11.
Meanwhile, across the country, celebrities continued to lend their voices in support. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Ricky Martin, and Christina Aguilera are among the heavyweights who performed rallying cries for the Harris campaign. These musicians used their influential platforms not only to perform but also to articulate their support. "Kamala Harris is for us. She's for unity, she's for all Americans," Ricky Martin conveyed to an audience in Philadelphia, as quoted by USA Today.
When it comes to issues like reproductive rights, participants at these events did not shy to voice their convictions. Sammy Robinson, who attended the Raleigh concert, told CBS 17 about the importance of a woman's right to choose, despite being a parent to an adopted child. The message resonated through the chords and choruses, as Francesca Louis, another attendee, mentioned to CBS 17 her desire to return to a level of civility in political discourse, signifying the weight citizens place on temperament and values this election cycle.
