In a recent social media update from the Stockton Police Department, a foot chase unfolded on the streets of Stockton's Seaport District, leading to a notable arrest on South Hunter Street. The department's Watch Commander’s Night Report detailed an incident that occurred early yesterday morning, involving a suspect now identified as 35-year-old Jeff Fletcher.
Stockton officers were dispatched to apprehend Fletcher, who was wanted on multiple charges, including robbery and battery. The encounter escalated when Fletcher fled on foot as police arrived, leading to a brief manhunt in the neighborhood. Despite his attempt to flee, Fletcher was located. However, the situation intensified as he resisted arrest, prompting officers to use restraints to subdue him. Fletcher now faces additional charges of resisting arrest, in addition to the original charges.
According to the official SPD report, the suspect is also being charged with child abuse, further compounding the gravity of the situation and his potential legal repercussions. There has been no additional information released about the child abuse charge as of yet, including whether it was related to the recent incident or a separate case altogether.
