Storm Recovery Progress: Hillsborough County Collection Centers Resume Regular Hours in Plant City and WimaumaSource: Google Street View

Hillsborough County residents recovering from recent storms can note that two Community Collection Centers will resume normal hours. According to Hillsborough County's official newsroom, the Alderman's Ford Solid Waste Facility in Plant City and the Wimauma Solid Waste Facility will return to their standard hours starting Monday closing at 5 p.m. instead of their recently extended schedule.

On Saturday, the county announced that the centers will transition after the last storm debris is collected at 7 p.m. Starting Monday, both facilities will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. This change follows a decrease in residential storm debris, indicating the community is returning to normalcy.

Both centers accept various materials, including storm-related construction debris, furniture, and empty appliances, but do not accept yard waste or wood. For those needing to dispose of yard waste, there are options available. The Northwest, South County, and Hillsborough Heights Solid Waste Facilities will continue their extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

Hillsborough County is actively managing debris collection, with over 150 specialized trucks working in neighborhoods every day. Operating seven days a week, these trucks collect about 60,000 cubic yards of debris daily.
