
An arrest has been made in connection with a homicide that occurred on 48th Avenue in South Sacramento, as per a statement from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office posted on their official Facebook page. On the night of Friday, November 15, 2024, deputies were dispatched to an apartment block on the 3900 block of 48th Avenue after technology known as ShotSpotter detected multiple rounds fired. A witness reported seeing an adult male apparently shot in the parking lot.
Arriving quickly at the scene, deputies attempted first aid on the victim. Despite their efforts, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sacramento Metro Fire District personnel. The subsequent investigation, involving interviews with witnesses and evidence collection, was conducted by Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators. According to the sheriff's department, Hason Plater, a 26-year-old resident of Sacramento, was identified as the suspected perpetrator of the fatal shooting.
Plater was apprehended by detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau the following evening. After his arrest, he was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on a charge of murder - specifically, for violating PC 187. The suspect currently remains in custody without the possibility of bail and is expected to make a court appearance tomorrow. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will announce the identification of the deceased once the necessary protocols are completed.
