Red Bull Flugtag is set to take place in Tampa this weekend, with the city expecting over 80,000 spectators near the Tampa Convention Center. In an announcement from the City of Tampa, teams will launch their homemade, flyable crafts into the sky on Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m.
With thousands of attendees expected, the event will cause significant traffic disruptions. Starting at 8 a.m. on event day, road closures will include the West Platt Street Bridge and Harbour Island Bridge. Due to limited parking, visitors are advised to arrive early or use alternative transportation, such as free TECO Streetcar rides from Ybor City, HART buses, shared scooters, or ride-sharing services.
During the event, the following items will be restricted: drones, large backpacks, food, pets, glass, firearms, weapons, and illegal vending. These measures are in place to ensure safety and order at the event.
Lane closures, as outlined on the City of Tampa website, will affect regular routes. It is advised to plan ahead and consider alternative transportation options for the event.
