A weekend shooting in Rockdale, Texas, has abruptly claimed the life of one individual and left another wounded, prompting a manhunt for a teenage suspect. According to CBS Austin, Rockdale Police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on East 4th Street on Saturday evening, where they discovered Trevor Everage, aged 20, with multiple gunshot injuries. A second victim, Christopher Flores, 22, found also shot, succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Both victims were urgently taken to Rockdale Airport to be airlifted to Scott & White Medical Center in Temple. It was at the airport that officials pronounced Flores dead. Early evidence, police suggest, point to a scenario where the victims were targeted in what seemed to be a planned armed robbery gone awry. An arrest warrant has swiftly been issued for 16-year-old Jonah Flores on charges of Capital Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
In a separate report by KBTX, details emerged confirming the identities of the two victims and the nature of the incident as a targeted attack. An unnamed 16-year-old has been implicated, with authorities issuing arrest warrants for capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon as they continue to unravel the sequence of events that led to this tragic shooting.
Law enforcement is calling on anyone with pertinent information to step forward to assist in capturing the alleged young perpetrator. Lieutenant Michael Hubnik and Captain Goodrich of the Rockdale Police are the points of contact, with options for anonymity provided through the Milam County Crime Stoppers. The community now watches, holding its breath, as justice seeks to be swiftly, and assuredly, served.
