In honor of National Adoption Month, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has put the spotlight on the state's “Support Adoption” specialty license plate, which directly funds the OAG's grant program aiming to assist with adoption-related costs for families and support organizations offering resources to pregnant women considering the process. Echoing his sentiment on the Texas Attorney General's website, Paxton stated, "In Texas, we affirm life, and the Support Adoption program is one of the many ways we work to help and protect pregnant women and their children."
The "Support Adoption" Grant Program, created in 2023, has been noted to provide monetary support to organizations dedicated to facilitating adoption, with grants given totaling $29,000 in Fiscal Year 2024 and a planned $40,000 for Fiscal Year 2025; funds that come in part from the sales of state-issued "Support Adoption" license plates that allow drivers to publicly show their support for adoption efforts while contributing financially to its cause, the program also serves as a fiscal friend to couples and individuals who might otherwise stumble on the high cost of adoption which may climb up into tens of thousands.
The Texas Attorney General's official news release explains that the grant program allows Texans to help improve the lives of children in need of adoption and support expectant mothers considering adoption.
