Governor Greg Abbott has laid out plans for the upcoming Governor's Small Business Summit in Kaufman, scheduled on December 5. As reported by the governor's official news post, this marks the closing set piece of 2024's statewide business gatherings designed to fuel the engines of commerce at the grassroots level.
Texas with over 3 million small businesses employing nearly half its workforce, is a robust environment for fledgling ventures. “With over 3 million small businesses employing nearly half of the Texas workforce, Texas remains a top state for small business job growth. Texas offers opportunities and partnership for businesses of all sizes to grow and succeed. I invite Texas' small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs to attend this Governor’s Small Business Summit. Together, we will build a bigger, better Texas for decades to come.” said Governor Abbott, in an announcement.
According to a statement from the governor's office, the agenda for the Summit is packed with various topics aimed at empowering small business owners. Session topics spanning the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, workforce strategies, and marketing will be punctuated by a keynote speech from Bob & Kelli Phillips, familiar names through their time with the Texas Country Reporter.
Delving into the specifics, the summit will provide insights on critical business nuances such as when it's appropriate to scale and potentially sell a business. Another feature sure to draw interest is a discussion on harnessing social media to build a brand, a strategy that, given its ubiquity, some could argue is not leveraged enough.
