Maui residents, plan your Thanksgiving week accordingly. The County of Maui has announced a series of closures and schedule modifications for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. In an official statement, the county detailed the changes that will affect various offices, facilities, and services on Thursday.

Take note, all County of Maui offices, along with county pools, will be closed for the day. As for waste management, residents will need to keep in mind that the Hāna, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi landfills, along with the Olowalu Recycling & Refuse Convenience Center, will not be operational. However, the Central Maui Landfill and Maui EKO Compost will be running on condensed hours, from 6 a.m. to noon, as per the County of Maui.

The County of Maui ensures that not all services will be disrupted by the holiday. Residential trash pickup and the Maui Bus system will follow their usual schedule, offering some normalcy amid the holiday modifications. Regular business hours for county offices and services are set to resume promptly the following day, on Friday.

It’s also worth noting a more extended pause for the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement services. While most county operations will return to normal the day after Thanksgiving, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement services at the Office of Recovery-West Maui will not be available on Friday, putting a small dent in the availability of services right after the holiday, as per the County of Maui. Ensure to plan ahead if you rely on these services, as you'll have to wait until the following week for operations to normal out.
