A bit of persistence paid off for one Wayne County man who, after purchasing his third Colossal Cashword instant ticket, claimed a life-changing $2 million lottery prize. The unnamed 32-year-old's fortunate scratch-off was bought at the River Oaks Marathon in Dearborn Heights, CBS News Detroit reports.
"I bought a Colossal Cashword ticket while I was at the gas station and won $30, so I used my winnings to buy another one," the winner shared in a statement, according to the details provided by Michigan Lottery Connect. Deciding against the annuity option, the recipient opted for a one-time lump sum payment of around $1.3 million, with plans to invest in real estate, a vehicle, and to assist family members financially.
In an official press release, the Michigan Lottery stated that players have won over $65 million since the Colossal Cashword game launched in September last year, The Detroit News includes the comment from Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli, who emphasized the life-altering potential of playing instant games. The game still offers over $52 million in remaining prizes, including another $2 million top prize.
