The Shelby County community is grappling with the arrest of three men linked to a recent tragic incident involving the murder of a homeowner after confronting suspected car burglars, Xavier King, Tredairious Willis, and Jakarius Ishmon, are facing charges of accessory after the fact, arson, and tampering with evidence, according to a report by Action News 5.
The investigation, which followed the killing of 48-year-old Fernando Jones on October 21, unfolded as law enforcement uncovered surveillance footage of the trio purchasing gasoline shortly after Jones confronted the burglars outside his home, as described by WREG, and it was within the arc of that night's violent sequence that the stolen white Honda used in the crime was later found ablaze, the suspects having fled the scene in another vehicle.
Despite the arrests made on November 20, and while additional charges related to the homicide are anticipated the legal proceedings against King, Willis, and Ishmon are still unfolding, with the men's admissions to setting the stolen vehicle on fire at a local park now part of the evidentiary narrative, reported by Action News 5.
As the Shelby County Sheriff's Office suggests that more charges are expected, the community and Jones' family await further developments in a case that ripped through the tranquility of their neighborhood, the trio remaining in custody with bond unset following the death of Jones who was known to be shot after yelling at the suspects attempting to break into his car, a scene that evokes as much grief as disbelief, articulated by the details shared by Citizen Tribune.
