Three women were hospitalized with gunshot wounds following an argument related to yesterday's General Election in Miami. The incident occurred just after midnight, at an apartment complex near Northwest 5th Avenue and 18th Street, according to CBS News.
The Miami Police were called to the scene at 12:25 a.m., where they found the victims, aged between 20 and 30. According to their report, a dispute turned violent when one individual brought out a gun, and fired shots, "This is something of concern to us. There is no place for violence, especially when you have a difference of opinion and politics," Officer Michael Vega, spokesman for the Miami Police Department, said in a statement obtained by CBS News. One woman remains in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital, while the other two are stable.
As reported by NBC Miami, the circumstances leading up to the shooting weren't immediately clear, but authorities are connecting the incident to a politically motivated argument. Policing efforts have intensified as the shooter fled the scene and is yet to be apprehended.
Local officials and law enforcement are appealing for the public’s assistance in gathering information about the suspect, whose description has not yet been released. Anyone with knowledge of the crime is encouraged to call the Miami Police Department at (305) 603-6030, or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).
