Good news for Davis dog owners: Toad Hollow Dog Park is back open for business after a temporary rain-induced hiatus. With the most recent update posted on the City of Davis website, locals can once again let their pups loose, though they might want to pack a towel for potential muddy encounters.
Let's rewind for a second. Due to an unwelcome deluge, the park was previously closed, the gates barred thanks to Mother Nature's overflow—making it less of a dog haven and more of a duck pond. Designed intentionally as a retention basin, Toad Hollow found itself submerged and thus, out of commission for a spell, noted by the City of Davis as "the last to drain," as per Hoodline.
Meanwhile, the City of Davis didn't leave folks in the dark, maintaining a stream of updates that culminated in the reopening. In the initial closure announcement, as pet lovers scowled at the sky, the city thanked everyone for their "understanding during this wet pause," reported on the Hoodline. With the park once again welcoming tail-wags, it's clear the City of Davis contingency planning for their lowest point—both literally and figuratively—has come through.
