
A tragic off-roading incident in Butler County has resulted in the death of one individual and injured another. The Butler County Sheriff's Office reported that a black Jeep carrying two occupants went off an embankment while traveling along the 2400 block of Woodsdale Road late at night yesterday.
First responders were called to the scene around 11 p.m., where they discovered the vehicle had rolled over during the accident. The driver was pronounced dead at the site, confirmed the Butler County Sheriff's Office in a statement obtained by The Enquirer media partner Fox19. The passenger was transported to a hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
The Butler County coroner identified the deceased driver as Mitchell Allen Bowens, 26, of Trenton, Ohio. Further reports by WLWT revealed that the accident occurred at approximately 11:03 p.m. on the evening in question. The cause of death, as stated by the coroner's office and reported by FOX19, was a compression injury.
While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have not yet determined if drugs, alcohol, or speed were contributing factors in the crash. Sheriff Richard Jones, as indicated in a statement obtained by FOX19, pointed out that the specifics of the unfortunate event, including the final moments that led to the vehicle's fatal descent, remain unclear.
