A recent investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has culminated in the apprehension and charging of two individuals tied to a July 11 shooting at a pool party, which left a 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound. The suspects, 18-year-olds Davin Denson Jr. and Sujoy Guha-Perry, are now facing multiple felony charges for their alleged involvement in the violent incident at Cambridge at Hickory Hollow Apartments in Antioch, WKRN reports.
According to FOX 17 News, after the MNPD's examination of ballistics evidence and license plate reader technology, they determined that the semi-automatic handgun used in the aforementioned shooting was also wielded in a separate October incident, wherein Denson is accused of shooting his pregnant girlfriend. Denson, who had already been incarcerated for the assault on his girlfriend, is additionally said to have appeared in video footage from the pool party shooting, which contributed to his and Guha-Perry’s identification.
Denson’s charges continue to accumulate, as he is not only facing attempted criminal homicide for the shooting of his girlfriend, but also five counts of felony aggravated assault, one count of reckless endangerment, and unlawful felony gun possession in connection with the pool party incident. MNPD has asserted that Guha-Perry acted as Denson’s driver before Denson discharged the firearm into the crowd of partygoers, WSMV indicates. Both individuals were arrested, with Guha-Perry taken into custody on Tuesday and currently facing five counts of felony aggravated assault and, one count of reckless endangerment.
Further details about the shooting emerged after investigators examined content on Denson's phone, which included video footage of the shooting itself and of Guha-Perry driving the vehicle from which Denson is believed to have fired. A private license plate reader (LPR) at the apartment complex also played a key role in reconstructing the events, leading to the arrest of the two suspects. Both are now being held at the Davidson County Jail, awaiting charges related to the serious allegations against them.
