Two teenagers have been taken into custody in relation to the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Arthy Sony Cetoute in Orange County. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that both suspects, Derrick Sharod Lafure and Ja'Corey Latrieus Lowery, each 18, are facing charges of first-degree murder with a firearm, as reported by WESH.
The incident occurred on September 5, around 7:20 p.m., on the 1800 block of Americana Boulevard. On arrival, deputies discovered Cetoute, who had suffered gunshot wounds, was quickly transported to the hospital in a critical condition, where he, unfortunately, passed away. Lafure was arrested in September, while Lowery's arrest took place last week in North Carolina by the US Marshals, WFTV reported.
Lafure's arrest occurred on September 17, shortly after the shooting, while Lowery was apprehended in Greensborough, North Carolina, on a Friday. The latter is currently in the process of being extradited to Orlando to face the charges leveled against him.
Details surrounding the motive and the circumstances that led up to the shooting remain largely under wraps as the investigation continues.
