Two suspects have been arrested in relation to a Wilmington assault that led to the death of Dwayne Clifton, age 60, back in July. The arrest, which occurred on November 18, followed a lengthy investigation that began after police responded to an emergency call in the early hours of July 29.
Upon their arrival at the spot, on East 27th Street, officers discovered Clifton with a severe head injury, the consequences of which later proved fatal. Detective Brendan Shea of the Criminal Investigations Division, along with the Delaware Division of Forensic Sciences, spearheaded the subsequent inquiry. According to official reports, the investigation eventually pinpointed 52-year-old Adrian Richardson and 54-year-old Sonya Tull as suspects in connection with the case.
Richardson and Tull's alleged involvement in the assault led to an indictment by the New Castle County Grand Jury earlier this month. Both of the accused have since been taken into custody without incident, marking a pivotal turn in this ongoing case of fatal violence.
Following the indictment, Richardson is now facing multiple charges including manslaughter, first-degree burglary, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $50,000 cash-only bail. His associate, Tull, has been charged with first-degree burglary and second-degree conspiracy, held at the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on a $15,000 cash-only bail.
