Violence shook the Memphis community this past weekend as two individuals, a 14-year-old boy, and 22-year-old Jeremiah Walls, were arrested and charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on Ardmore Street in Frayser. According to a report by Action News 5, both suspects are facing eight counts of aggravated assault following the gunfire exchange that ensued last Saturday afternoon after a neighborhood dispute escalated.
The situation reportedly began when an altercation between a man and several neighbors turned violent. WREG detailed that after the initial fight, multiple men, including Walls, left only to swiftly return armed and began to vigorously shoot at a home where eight people were present. In what appears to be a desperate response to defend themselves, one of the residents returned fire, police say.
Ambulances and police soon flooded the scene where the conflict had reached its peak, only to find the suspects already seeking medical care. As reported by FOX13 Memphis, "Walls and the 14-year-old both then went to Regional One for treatment." Following the assessment and subsequent discharge from the hospital, law enforcement took both into custody. Walls' bond has been set at $500,000, however, the bond amount for the young teen remains unestablished at this time.
